2 options

OK. Scratch that old one. I did two more but I think the one with the two lines is a bit better. But since I know you're trying to pull stuff, take the one you want.

ps. the single line is set in 9 pt...

Movement? Space? AND structure?

Woodtype

My first attempt at setting woodblock type. I can see I could go crazy piecing letters together. Trying to keep it readable with the little lock-ups but....

anyone have thoughts? Is this the right track?

New Covers

Mostly trying out different typefaces. I think I'm deciding between United and Agency but open to other thoughts....

A Lighter Touch

And in addition to the lighter use of Museo below, I've included an new table of contents. Better?

Better?

and one more for comparison's sake.

Updated Features

Here are the intersect features with updates. Unless anyone says "no no no! Museo doesn't work at all," yesterday's updates for the departments stand as they are. I'll try my hardest to get the toc and cover finished up today.

New Departments

I'm going with Museo I think (with Stratum being a second choice) since the slight serifs remind me of Cholla Slab and I think they're working ok together. Had to adjust the pull quote to match though. More lyrical?

Little Help?

So I'm trying to figure out this new department headline font and I'm a bit stuck. A lot of what I try I don't think works very well with the rest of the fonts on the spread (namely Cholla Slab) or maybe it's just that I've been working on this spread for way too long. I chose this spread to work from since it's got a lot of variation and the pull quote in Cholla Slab. So here's the original plus 5 variations (Stratum, Museo, Cholla Slab, Cholla (sans) Italic (since we said the ital looked ok in class) and Auto Italic (Auto Regular just looked too plain). Anyone have comments?

Concrete

These are basically "done" and I'm still working on revisions of the other feature opener and jump spread based on Tuesday's feedback. I'll post them when they're done.

Since I haven't had a chance yet to redo the Cholla Sans department type, Intersect doesn't really have anything new. Do you still want to see them as they stand now?

Cover revision

With new type treatment. Better integrates the cover with the cover feature?

TOC

Here's the table of contents for intersect. It kind of became a bit more open than I was expecting so anyone have thoughts? I think I've figured out the whole "comments" thing so that everyone can leave notes so.....

Playing

Trying out a new logo idea. Don't love it for a logo, now more of just a type experiment, but thought I'd toss it up.

Final Features

Here are the final features, Lost in Transition opener and jump and the Lush for Life opener. The jump is right below and of the two, I'm probably gravitating towards the top one. I'll come back and do a third feature if I have time but I'm working on two feature spreads for the off-shoot magazine Concrete.

Final Departments

Here are the final departments. The only thing that I feel might change is the folio line since I'm still debating a better title.

Revised Pages

Another revision for the feature opener, now to be included within Concrete magazine.

Here are a couple revisions to the jump spread. Differences are minor: colour of the swirls and the first swirl has a "jump quote" running inside on one of the spreads.

A couple variations on the end page. Better?
